There’s something about beautifully boxed cookies and chocolates…it can truly make the person receiving it feel so good. Especially, if they are from Big Island Candies, one of Hawaii’s largest chocolate factories.
Big Island Candies – Hawaii’s Very Own Chocolate Factory
During our last visit to Hilo, Hawaii, we stopped by this famous local chocolate factory to sample some of the island’s most popular souvenir chocolates. We were warmly greeted with fresh coffee and samples of chocolate-dipped shortbread cookies as we entered the store.
As you walk through the doors you are immediately greeted with some samples of their cookies and chocolates along with, in my opinion, one of the best Kona coffee samples on the island. From here you’ll take a self-guided tour, looking through the windows of the factory to see how the cookies and chocolates are made.
Everything is hand-dipped. These Japanese rice crackers are carefully being dipped in melted chocolate.
The kids loved watching them dip “everything” into chocolate!
